Misiunea FMI şi-a început vizita de evaluare post-program şi consultări la Chişinău
„Consultările periodice prevăzute de Articolul IV al Statutului Fondului constituie un exerciţiu de supraveghere care este obligatoriu pentru toate statele-membre, în urma aderării lor la FMI”,preciza anterior într-un comunicat Armine Khachatryan, reprezentantul rezident al FMI în Republica Moldova. Potrivit acesteia, „statele membre, care au un nivel substanţial al datoriei faţă de FMI, sunt supuse monitorizării post-program după expirarea programelor susţinute de instituţia financiară internaţională”. Monitorizarea aprofundată are ca scop confirmarea viabilităţii cadrului economic al ţării şi alertarea timpurie cu privire la politicile ce ar putea periclita viabilitatea statului pe plan extern. În caz de necesitate, experţii FMI consultă autorităţile privind acţiunile de politici menite să corecteze dezechilibrele macroeconomice. Este cea de-a doua misiune a FMI la Chişinău din acest an. În perioada 15-29 ianuarie, o echipă de experţi ai FMI condusă de Max Alier a purtat la Chişinău discuţii cu autorităţile cu privire la politicile care ar putea sta la baza unui program susţinut de Fond, fără a ajunge la un acord. Ultimul program de asistenţă al FMI pentru Republica Moldova a fost finalizat în aprilie 2013, prin care Republica Moldova a beneficiat de finanţări în sumă de aproximativ 566 de milioane de dolari SUA.
