Producători de statistici oficiale (APSO), alții decât Biroul Național de Statisitcă și Banca Națională a Moldovei, pot fi entitățile care au statut de instituție sau autoritate publică, sunt responsabile pentru dezvoltarea și producerea de informație statistică, acest fapt fiind prevăzut în cadrul normativ de organizare al instituției și au capacitatea de a colecta, prelucra, sistematiza, centraliza, analiza, estima și disemina informația statistică. Criteriile privind calitatea APSO reprezintă cerințe exhaustive ce urmează a fi întrunite cumulativ și asigurate de către entități.
