Banca Mondială avertizează: Încălzirea climatică riscă să agraveze sărăcia

Încălzirea climatică riscă să agraveze considerabil sărăcia pe glob, afectând recoltele agricole şi ameninţând securitatea alimentară a milioane de persoane, avertizează Banca Mondială. „Fără o acţiune puternică şi rapidă, încălzirea climatică şi consecinţele ei ar putea agrava considerabil sărăcia în numeroase regiuni de pe glob”, avertizează instituţia într-un raport Seceta, canicula, acidificarea oceanelor, reducerea accesului la apă fac ca Banca Mondială să anticipeze un scenariu în care comunitatea internaţională nu îşi va atinge obiectivul de limitare a creşterii temperaturii mondiale la plus 2 grade Celsius în raport cu epoca preindustrială, faţă de plus 0,8 grade Celsius în prezent. Evenimente climatice extreme care au loc în prezent o dată la un secol ar putea deveni noua normă climatică, avertizează instituţia. Banca Mondială trage un semnal de alarmă mai ales în privinţa a trei regiuni de pe glob: America Latină, Orientul Mijlociu şi Europa de Est. Potrivit scenariului negru al unei încălziri cu 4 grade Celsius, până la 80 la sută din Orientul Mijlociu şi America de Sud ar putea fi afectate de valuri de căldură de o amploare fără precedent, cu riscul de a provoca vaste valuri de imigraţie, adaugă documentul.
