Джейкоб Лью: потолок госдолга США будет достигнут в феврале

У Конгресса США гораздо меньше времени на решение проблемы государственного долга, нежели предполагалось ранее. Министр финансов США Джейкоб Лью в своем письме конгрессменам, датированным 22 января текущего года, потребовал как можно скорее переменить решение. "Чрезвычайных мер, которые были предприняты для того, чтобы избежать достижения потолка госдолга, может хватить только до конца февраля", - говорится в письме. Ранее предполагалось, что эти меры позволят правительству США занимать средства до середины марта. Эксперты уверены, что на этот раз конгрессмены не допустят остановки правительства США из-за исчерпания средств и достижения лимита государственного долга, однако с каждым днем их уверенность тает. Ранее председатель бюджетного комитета палаты представителей республиканец Пол Райан заявил, что в январе республиканцы будут требовать от демократов уступок при повышении лимита государственного долга в обмен на более значительное сокращение государственных расходов.
SHURDOWN 30 сентября 2013 г. федеральное правительство США частично прекратило свою работу, так как республиканцы и демократы не смогли договориться относительно параметров бюджета на финансовый год, начавшийся 1 октября 2013 г. На работу в течение 16 дней не могли выйти более 1 млн госслужащих. Не работали не только министерства и ведомства, но также музеи, национальные парки. Сами американцы столкнулись с задержками в получении различных справок и документов. Частичное прекращение деятельности правительства сократило квартальный рост экономики США на 0,25 п. п. и обошлось в потерю 120 тыс. рабочих мест в октябре, заявил главный экономический советник президента Барака Обамы.
