Marea Britanie îşi doreşte să aibă o relaţie specială cu Uniunea Europeană după Brexit

Londra va căuta să obţină o relaţie specială cu Uniunea Europeană, care să implice controlul imigraţiei şi un acord comercial favorabil, iar iniţierea procedurii de ieşire a Marii Britanii din Blocul Comunitar va avea loc anul viitor, a declarat purtătoarea de cuvânt a premierului britanic. "Premierul a declarat că există două obiective imperative interconectate: obţinerea cele mai bune afaceri pentru locuitorii ţării şi negocierea celui mai favorabil acord pentru Marea Britanie în străinătate," a afirmat purtătoarea de cuvânt, după o întâlnire a guvernului britanic. Întâlnirea a avut loc la Chequers, reşedinţa rurală oficială a prim-ministrului britanic, în comitatul englez Buckinghamshire, pentru a discuta despre strategia privind ieşirea Marii Britanii din Uniunea Europeană. Cei mai mulţi membri ai cabinetului condus de Theresa May au fost în favoarea căutării unui model special pentru Marea Britanie, şi nu o soluţie deja existentă, a completat ea. "Aceasta trebuie să includă controlul asupra numărului de persoane din Europa care vin în Marea Britanie, dar şi să ofere condiţii favorabile pentru comerţul de bunuri şi servicii", a adăugat purtătoarea de cuvânt. Theresa May a reiterat faptul că nu va invoca anul acesta articolul 50 din Tratatul de la Lisabona, prin care se iniţiază procedura de ieşire din UE. Reprezentanta premierului britantic a mai precizat că membrii cabinetului au căzut de acord că acest lucru se poate realiza şi fără a fi nevoie să ceară acordul Parlamentului sau al naţiunilor constitutive ale Marii Britanii.
