Oxfam призывает не множить в ЕС “новых бедных”

Богатые становятся богаче, а бедные беднее. В Евросоюзе эта тенденция усилилась как следствие жёстких антикризисных мер. Oxfam прогнозирует, что к 2025 году от 15 до 25 млн европейцев окажутся за чертой бедности. Эта благотворительная организация напомнила, что строгая экономия в менее развитых регионах приводила к падению уровня жизни.
“Нам пришлось преодолевать последствия структурной корректировки в Южной Америке в 80-х годах, финансового кризиса в Юго-восточной Азии в 90-х, – сказала представитель Oxfam Наталья Алонсо. – Там тоже людей вынуждали затягивать пояса, и гуманитарная ситуация резко ухудшалась. Нам следует извлечь уроки из истории”.
В Евросоюзе за ошибки банкиров не так давно пришлось расплачиваться вкладчикам. Чтобы не повторять чужие и свои ошибки, Oxfam рекомендует правительствам ЕС брать больше налогов с тех людей, кому легче их платить, облегчить такое бремя для неимущих и ввести налог на финансовые транзакции. Вырученные деньги предлагается потратить на здравоохранение и образование.
“Мы то и дело говорим , что есть огромный потенциал для сбора средств даже в обстановке кризиса, – продолжала Наталья Алонсо. – Нужно также отрегулировать финансовую систему, из-за которой и возник кризис.“
Брюссель подумывает перераспределить менять взносы в бюджет ЕС в зависимости от уровня бедности стран-членов. В руках у 10% самых состоятельных в Союзе людей находятся 24% его богатства. 10% самых бедных владеют лишь тремя процентами.
