Правительство Намибии отказалось снизить налоги на алмазодобычу

Правительство Намибии отказалось понижать налог на алмазодобычу, несмотря на усилия крупнейшей в стране алмазодобывающей компании – Namdeb. Агентство Bloomberg процитировало заявление министра финансов Намибии Саары Куугонгелва-Амадила (Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila) о том, что ставка налога должна остаться на прежнем уровне – 55%. Компания Namdeb, совместное предприятие De Beers и правительства Намибии, хотела добиться сокращения ставки налога до 37,5%, чтобы она сравнялась со ставками, применимыми к другим добывающим компаниям страны.
«Мы не можем принять идею о том, что алмазодобыча должна облагаться такими же налогами, как добыча других полезных ископаемых, - отметила министр. – Мы приняли осознанное решение, установив размер налога в 55%, поскольку алмазы имеют особую, повышенную ценность, и гражданам Намибии должна быть обеспечена доля прибыли от алмазов».
Представитель Namdeb Полин Томас (Pauline Thomas) заявила, что режим налогообложения алмазодобывающих компаний в стране очень жесткий, и Namdeb продолжит лоббировать идею о снижении ставки налога.
«Режим налогообложения алмазодобывающей деятельности в Намибии характеризуется наиболее высокими в мире ставками, в частности налог на прибыль составляет 55%, а также взимается 10% роялти от оборота, - отметила Томас. – Этот налоговый режим оставался неизменным на протяжении многих лет».
В прошлом году компания Namdeb добыла 1,67 млн каратов алмазного сырья.
