Reprezentantul Greciei la FMI a demisionat

Reprezentantul Greciei la Fondul Internaţional Monetar, Thanos Katsambas, a renunţat la poziţia pe care o deţine, demisia sa urmând să intre în vigoare în luna iunie, potrivit informaţiilor apărute în presa elenă. Motivele demisiei lui Katsambas nu sunt clare. Potrivit site-ului enikos.gr, Katsambas şi-a prezentat demisia după o întâlnire dintre ministrul elen al Finanţelor, Yanis Varoufakis, şi directorul executiv al FMI Christine Lagarde care a avut loc weekendul trecut la Washington. Katsambas, care a lucrat pentru FMI între 1979-2010, a fost numit reprezentantul Greciei la insituţia financiară internaţională în 2012. Grecia, ţară aflată în pragul falimentului din cauza neînţelegerilor cu creditorii externi privind reformele ataşate unor programe de asistenţă financiară în valoare totală de 240 miliarde de euro, a pus la încercare răbdarea partenerilor externi prin refuzul repetat de a colabora cu aceştia şi prin anunţarea mai multor măsuri populiste de natură să diminueze veniturile la bugetul de stat. Săptămâna trecută, mai mulţi reprezentanţi ai guvernului de la Atena au indicat că Grecia nu va putea să plătească o datorie de 450 milioane de euro către FMI scadentă pe 9 aprilie, informaţie care a fost ulterior infirmată de premierul Alexis Tsipras, şi apoi de Lagarde. Lagarde a precizat, în urma întâlnirii cu Varoufakis, că o "cooperare efectivă" este în interesul tuturor părţilor şi că FMI va continua să lucreze cu autorităţile de la Atena pentru a contribui la revenirea economiei Greciei. De asemenea, ea a afirmat că discuţiile tehnice cu echipele autorităţilor care supraveghează programul de bailout al Greciei vor reîncepe în această săptămână la Atena şi la Bruxelles, ministrul grec de finanţe luându-şi anagajamentul că va asigura îmbunătăţirea cooperarării autorităţilor elene cu oficialii europeni.
