România are mai puţini pensionari săraci decât Marea Britanie - sondaj

Pensionarii britanici se numără printre cei mai săraci din UE şi o duc mai rău decât cei din Europa de Est, inclusiv România, susţine Daily Express în ediţia electronică, citând un sondaj realizat de Centrul Internaţional pentru Longevitate. Cincisprezece ţări stau mai bine decât Marea Britanie atunci când este vorba despre nivelul de sărăcie în cazul persoanelor cu vârste peste 65 de ani, potrivit unui nou raport realizat de Centrul Internaţional pentru Longevitate (ILC-UK). Germania, Austria, Spania, Danemarca, Polonia, Irlanda, Norvegia, Slovacia, Luxemburg, Cehia, Ungaria şi Olanda se clasează înaintea Marii Britanii. În plus, 16,1 la sută dintre pensionarii britanici trăiesc într-o relativă sărăcie, în timp ce în România proporţia acestora este de 15,4 la sută, iar în Letonia de 13,9 la sută. Tăierile bugetare au determinat persoanele cu vârste cuprinse între 50 şi 65 de ani să se lupte pentru a putea rămâne în serviciu până la vârsta de pensionare. Cel puţin 1,5 milioane de persoane cu vârste peste 50 de ani au fost nevoite să renunţe la locul de muncă în ultimii opt ani din cauza unei combinaţii de şomaj, sănătate precară sau pensionare anticipată forţată.
Putem învăţa multe de la Europa, de aceea folosim raportul pentru a ne compara cu vecinii noştri", a declarat o purtătoare de cuvânt a ILC-UK. "Sistemul de pensii de stat este stors şi este dificil ca oamenii să continue să facă economii când câştigurile nu cresc iar costurile sunt tot mai mari, a adăugat ea.
Organizaţiile umanitare au cerut Guvernului să facă mai multe pentru a-i sprijini pe cei care au nevoie. "Este scandalos că atât de multe persoane în vârstă din Marea Britanie trăiesc în sărăcie şi nu îşi pot permite să mănânce decent sau să aibă căldură în locuinţe. Mulţi pensionari trăiesc cu venituri foarte mici şi au mers pe sârmă în ultimii ani în timp ce preţurile la mâncare şi utilităţi au crescut", a declarat Caroline Abrahams, din cadrul organizaţiei Age UK. Raportul, care urmează să fie publicat în această săptămână, arată, de asemenea, că pensia de stat în Marea Britanie este de doar 31,9 la sută din salariul mediu.
Marea Britanie are unele dintre cele mai mici pensii din lumea dezvoltată. Ne bazăm în foarte mare măsură pe pensiile private dar cei care nu au şansa de a economisi, care poate şi-au pierdut locul de muncă sau, ca multe femei, nu au şansa de a primi o pensie de stat mai mare, sunt lăsaţi să trăiască în sărăcie, susţine expertul Ros Altmann.
