Йеллен надеется на ускорение экономики США в 2014 г.
“Я думаю, мы увидим более сильные темпы роста в этом году. Большинство моих коллег в Комитете по открытому рынку и я надеемся, что цифры [по темпам роста ВВП] составят скорее 3%, нежели 2%. До сих пор восстановление экономики было очень медленным. Тем не менее мы уже видим определенный прогресс в виде улучшения ряда показателей. Я также ожидаю, что в дальнейшем темпы инфляции начнут приближаться к долгосрочному целевому уровню, озвученному со стороны ФРС, в 2%. На мой взгляд, рынок недвижимости США, активность на котором замедлилась осенью 2013 г., в дальнейшем продолжит восстанавливаться. Многие люди говорят, что программа [покупки активов] ФРС помогает богатым людям. Но это неправда. Наша политика направлена на снижение долгосрочных процентных ставок. Это помогает восстановлению экономики и стимулирует потребление. Частично стимулирование экономики достигается за счет более высоких цен на недвижимость и роста фондового рынка. Это заставляет людей, которые владеют недвижимостью и акциями, больше тратить, что приводит к увеличению числа рабочих мест в экономике”.
